cathet browser extension
Terms of Service
last updated: 2026-07-17
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Cathet browser extension and this website (together, the “Service”). By installing or using Cathet, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the extension.
1. The Service
Cathet is a browser extension that records a workflow in your current tab and turns it into an editable, step-by-step guide with screenshots. Guides are captured, stored, and exported locally in your browser — the Service has no accounts and no server-side component.
Cathet is currently provided free of charge while in beta. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including introducing paid features in the future. Existing locally stored guides remain yours regardless.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Cathet for your own purposes, including commercial documentation work. The extension’s source code is published for transparency but remains proprietary — all rights reserved. You may not:
- resell, rebrand, or redistribute the extension or substantial portions of its code;
- remove or alter proprietary notices;
- use the Service in a way that violates applicable law.
3. Your content
Everything you capture with Cathet — steps, text, and screenshots — is your content and stays yours. Because capture happens on your machine, you are solely responsible for what you record and what you do with exported guides, including:
- making sure you are allowed to capture and share the screens and information involved (e.g. your employer's or customers' confidential data);
- reviewing guides for sensitive information before exporting or sharing them;
- complying with the terms of the websites you record.
We never see, store, or transmit your content. See the Privacy Policy for details.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- capture or distribute content unlawfully, including other people's personal data without a lawful basis;
- infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights of others;
- interfere with, probe, or disrupt websites you record beyond normal use.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that capture will be accurate or uninterrupted, that every click or screenshot will be recorded correctly, or that locally stored guides cannot be lost (e.g. if you clear browser data or uninstall the extension). Export and back up guides you care about.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author of Cathet shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including loss of data, profits, or goodwill — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. As the Service is provided free of charge, total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service (i.e. zero) or the smallest amount permitted by applicable law.
7. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “last updated” date. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
